Please join us for our Meadows Day on Bank Holiday Monday (26 May 2025).
We invite you to stroll through our Meadow Garden on an extended walk through our old hay meadows.
These are actively managed (with advice from Devon Wildlife Trust) to promote their conservation and are included in areas on the estate that have received County Wildlife Designation.
There are currently positive signs of new growth in these fields including new eyebright, yellow rattle, salad burnet, self-heal, trefoils, plantain, cat’s ear and yarrow clearly showing – warm temperatures and a bit rain should bring these on very nicely!
Spot these alongside marsh orchids, other wildflowers, grasses, bees, bugs, butterflies and moths!
The meadows are accessed via our restored ‘Meadow Garden’ – so called in the hope that we will eventually establish another meadowed area here, though this is experiencing some problems currently due to an over-silted pond. One step forwards, two steps back! It is all a work in progress….
