A wonderful start to the new season at Fursdon

And we’re off!  We had a wonderful season opening day on Bank Holiday Monday, the 22nd April – the sunshine was glorious, the garden looked lush and radiant, everything in the house was gleaming (including our lovely guide!), the car park was full and our scones were particularly fluffy!  We were delighted to welcome so many people to Fursdon – both old friends and new – and you could almost feel the house and gardens shaking itself awake from its winter rest!
Regular visitors to Fursdon will be delighted to see the changes that we have made in the garden since last year and we have re-vamped our intimate but fascinating museum.  New visitors will find so much of interest in a house with a family history dating back over 750 years and we think some of the best views in mid Devon – and quite possibly the best Cream Teas too of course!
If you would like to regularly visit the gardens, a season ticket is only £7.50 and gives you unlimited access to the gardens when we are open (Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2-5pm and bank holiday Monday’s from Easter to the end of September, excluding our special charity afternoons)  That’s over 45 opportunities to explore the gardens as the seasons change (and therefore over 45 opportunities to have a cream tea…!)  A one off visit to the garden is only £4.50, and children are free.
An informal tour of the house by one of our lovely guides includes access to the gardens and is only £9.00 for adults (children are free). Tours run at 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Wednesay and Thursday afternoons and bank holiday’s in June, July and August, and also on our special open days (you’ll find details of these at https://www.fursdon.co.uk/visits/opening-times-pricing).
It’s free for children to visit both house and garden – and just outside the tea room we have a lovely little play area with a swing and slide – just perfect for the kids whilst you indulge in a scone or two!  This year we also have a new free i-spy trail set up for children – and watch this space for news about a Dragon Hunt later in the summer…!
We are very much looking forward to welcoming all our visitors over the next 5 months or so – and we have our fingers crossed that the amazing weather at Easter is a prelude for a fabulous summertime!
