Garden

Long Border

The lawns in front of the house have been designed to blend into the rolling parkland beyond. To the western side there are sloping grass paths with ornamental trees and shrubs. Behind the house the land rises and, sheltered inside cob walls and yew hedges, there are terraced beds of herbs and roses and a maturing hot bed full of vibrant summer colours.

On the afternoons when the house is open to the public, visitors are invited to take a leisurely stroll around. See opening times and prices for details.

In the last few years some sympathetic restoration and development have taken place . Recent projects that you can see are:

  • The Library Terrace
  • Thatched round house
  • Hot bed with a seat made from Fursdon oak
  • Pot pourri garden
  • Grace's gold and silver garden
  • The Meadow Garden
