Garden

The lawns in front of the house have been designed to blend into the rolling parkland beyond. To the western side there are sloping grass paths with ornamental trees and shrubs.

Behind the house the land rises and, sheltered inside cob walls and yew hedges, there are terraced beds of herbs and roses.

Most of the gardens are available to our holiday guests at all times. On the afternoons when the house is open to the public, visitors are invited to take a leisurely stroll around. See opening times and prices for details.

Some sympathetic restoration and development have taken place in the last few years. Recent projects that you can see are:

  • The Library Terrace weeping pear trees
  • Thatched round house
  • Newly created hot bed with seat made from Fursdon oak
  • Pot pourri garden
  • Maturing Grace's gold and silver garden
