Access Statement for The Park Wing, Fursdon House
Introduction
The Park Wing is a first floor apartment in a Historic Manor house. We have tried to provide enough information to help you in your holiday choices. If you have any queries, please do call. We look forward to welcoming you.
Pre-Arrival
· We have a website showing interior and exterior photographs of the accommodation. Fursdon is also listed with http://www.specialescapes.co.uk/ and http://www.devonfarms.co.uk/.
· Please e-mail or telephone for availability. Bookings can then be made online, or by completing a booking form
· Payment can be made over the phone using a debit or credit card or by cheque
· Changeover days are Friday or Monday
• Shopping can be delivered using various supermarket home delivery schemes or by using http://www.ownonline.com/ details of which are on the Fursdon website.
Unloading and Car Parking Facilities
· Luggage can be unloaded at the rear of the house from where there is a gate and smooth paving across a cobbled courtyard to the entrance
· There is ample car parking in a gently sloping car park approx 100 metres from the house
· A gentle slope leads from the car park to the gate and a flat walk across the cobbled courtyard.
Arrival and Main Entrance
· Guests are met on arrival, escorted to their accommodation and shown all the facilities.
· There is one step up then a door into a closed entrance corridor
· A wide security protected fire door with turning knob leads into the visitors' entrance hall with seating, information board and emergency telephone. There is room to leave babys' buggies here without any obstruction.
· A further fire door opens into the staircase hall with a large picture window. There are four steps up and then a wide half landing leading to a flight of ten wide and shallow stairs with a hand rail on the right hand side. A further half landing turns to four more steps which take you onto the wide landing with the door to the Park Wing in front of you.
• The staircase and hall are carpeted with sea grass.
Hall and Corridor
· Immediately on the left at the top of the stairs is a cleaning cupboard with easy access to a range of cleaning equipment.
· The door leads into a wide hall way, off which leads the accommodation.
· From here there is level access to the kitchen and into the master bedroom. Three steps lead down to two further bedrooms with a shower room at the end.

• There is an emergency light in the hall and a flashing fire alarm sensor is also sited here.
Kitchen
· The kitchen is located on the right of the hallway with level access
• The flooring is non slip vinyl
· There is a flashing fire alarm sensor on the ceiling
· There is an unobstructed walkway through to the sitting room up three steps and there is a table and six chairs to the right, with a radiator and window seat on the left
• A run of standard height kitchen floor units include a dish washer and oven. At the end of the run is the sink with cupboards under and above.
• The sink has a mixer tap and left hand drainer and working surfaces to the left and right.
· On the other side of the kitchen is a large fridge with a small freezer above and microwave situated on top.
· Two wall cupboards are mounted either side of the cooker with an electric extractor fan above the hob. The oven has a drop down door
· A toaster and electric kettle are located on the work surface.
· All appliances have instructions, which are in the guests' folder on the kitchen table.
• General ambient lighting is provided with task lighting under the wall units. The room is light and airy as there is a large sash window, which faces south.
Sitting room
· The approach to the sitting room is through the kitchen and up three steps. The flooring is of sea grass.
· There is an open fire which is protected by a raised hearth and fire guard
· Three south facing windows give the room plenty of natural light
• Two table lamps provide additional light as well as two central ceiling lights
• There are two moveable sofas and three arm chairs with non feather cushions
• Teletext TV is provided with remote control. There is also a DVD player with remote control and a radio and CD player.
• A flashing fire alarm sensor is attached to the ceiling.
Bedrooms
· The main bedroom is a large room approached from the entrance hall. There is a very shallow step down into this room
· The beds are zip and link to provide two 3ft beds or a 6ft double.
· All sheets and duvet covers are high quality cotton.
• Duvets or blankets can be provided
· Extra pillows are available on request
· Non-allergic bed linen is available on request
· There is wide access on either side of the bed with a sofa at the foot. • An arm chair and dressing table with stool are also provided.
• Individual over bed lights are provided as well as central lighting
• The flooring is of sea grass.
• There are two twin bedrooms which are reached from the entrance hall, down three steps onto a further corridor and on the left.
• The first room has two three foot beds with a chest of drawers between them.
• There is a chair against the wall which gives more limited access around the beds.
• There are two bedside lamps and a central ceiling light.
• There is an east facing window, which give natural light to the room.
• A wash hand basin is sited near the window. There is also a radiator beneath the window.
• The flooring is of sea grass
• All bedding is the same as the master bedroom.
• The second twin room has two 3 ft beds, an easy chair and a straight backed chair
• There is access all round one bed but the second bed is against the wall with access from one side only.
• There is a small table with a lamp between the two beds and a further lamp on a table to the left as you enter the room
• The window to the south gives natural light and there is a radiator beneath this window
• The flooring is of sea grass.
• All bedding is the same as the master bedroom.
Bathrooms
• An en suite bathroom leads down three steps from the master bedroom.
· There is a full sized bath, large wash hand basin and wc with plenty of clear unobstructed floor space
• The vertical heated towel rail is just inside the door on the left.
· There is chair against the wall
· The floor tiles are non slip
• There are twin taps to the wash basin and a mixer tap with shower attachment to the bath.
A small shower room is situated at the end of the bedroom corridor and there is a step up into this.
A wash hand basin is immediately on the right and then a WC
The shower cubicle is on the left. There is a step over into the shower.
Laundry
· There is a well equipped laundry off the courtyard with 2 washing machines and a coin operated dryer
• There is also a washing line if guests wish to dry clothes naturally.
Outdoor Facilities
· Guests have use of the walled garden and there are seats and arbours.
· There is quite a steep climb to the top of the garden.
· There is a picnic area with swings and a slide for children situated near the stables up a gently sloping drive
· A barbecue area is also sited here.
· There is a flat area of grass where guests can sit near the play area
• When the family is not using the grass tennis court this can be used. This is sited near to the house with a small slope down from the drive
Grounds and Gardens
· Guests have access to the rear garden, which at times can be quite steep but there are flat areas to be found
· There is seating at various locations in the gardens
• A play area is provided for children where there is also a picnic table and built in barbecue. This is located at the top of the drive near the car park about 100 metres from the house.
Additional Information
· The accommodation is protected by a centrally controlled fire alarm system with flashing alarms and sensors in many areas.
· A electronic security system is also installed
· In the event of fire there are clear instructions on the back of the main door to the Garden Wing as well as information in the guests' folder.
· Emergency lighting has been fitted to all public areas in the event of a power failure and there is a torch located in the kitchen for guests' use.
• Smoking is not allowed in any part of the holiday accommodation nor in the courtyard where combustible materials are stored.
